Privacy Policy
Short version: most of our tools run entirely inside your browser and never send your files anywhere. A few tools need a server, and those files are deleted immediately after they're processed. We don't require an account and we don't sell your data.
1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how Manila ("we", "us", the "Service") handles information when you use our website. If you have questions, contact us at [email protected].
2. Two kinds of tools
Our tools fall into two groups, and they handle your files very differently:
- In-browser tools (for example: merge, split, edit, sign, rotate, images to PDF, page numbers). These run completely on your own device using JavaScript. Your file is never uploaded to us or anyone else. It never leaves your computer or phone.
- Server tools (for example: Office documents to PDF, Unlock PDF, Protect PDF). These need software that can't run in a browser, so your file is sent to our server over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, processed, and the result is sent back. The uploaded file and the result are deleted automatically right after processing (within minutes). We do not open, read, copy, keep, or share them.
Each tool's page tells you which kind it is.
3. Information we collect
- Files: For in-browser tools, none. For server tools, only temporarily as described above.
- Accounts: None. We don't ask you to register, and we don't collect your name or email unless you choose to contact us.
- Basic server logs: Like almost every website, our servers automatically record standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, and the pages requested. We use this only to keep the Service secure, prevent abuse, and diagnose problems. These logs are kept for a short period and then deleted.
- Cookies and similar technology: See the next section.
4. Cookies and advertising
The Service is free and is supported by advertising. We may use Google AdSense and similar advertising partners to display ads. These third parties may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you. You can learn more and opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings and www.aboutads.info.
- Where required by law (for example in the EU/UK), we ask for your consent before non-essential cookies are set, and you can change your choice at any time.
5. Analytics
We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which tools are used and to improve the Service. This is aggregated and is not used to identify you personally.
6. How we use information
- To provide the tools you ask for.
- To keep the Service secure and prevent abuse or fraud.
- To measure and improve the Service.
- To show ads that keep the Service free.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your files for anything other than performing the task you requested.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. Because we don't hold accounts and keep almost no personal data, in most cases there is little for us to act on, but you can always contact us at [email protected] and we'll respond.
8. Children
The Service is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
9. Data security
All traffic to the Service is encrypted with HTTPS. Server-processed files are isolated per job and deleted after processing. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be highlighted on the site.
